Fine Arts

Christ's Greenfield offers an exceptional Fine Arts program. Kindergarten - 8th Grade students are provided multiple opportunities to discover and develop God's gift of creativity.

MUSIC and THEATER PROGRAM

Kindergarten students participate in music class 2 times per week and focus on having many experiences with pulse, fast/slow, long and short sounds, matching pitch, playing unpitched percussion instruments, and exploring movement through dramatic play. Students also learn vocal technique and performance skills through participation in a Christmas Concert and a Spring Musical.

Students in Grades 1-4 enjoy music class 2 times per week and focus on developing their understanding of rhythm, melody, and form. Students study composers each month and have opportunities to identify and play pitched and unpitched percussion instruments.

Students in grade 4-5 continue to develop instrumental skills by learning to play the recorder. In Grade 5, students have the additional opportunity to join Beginning Band.

K-5th Grade students learn vocal technique and performance skills through participation in a Christmas Concert that combines instrumental and choral performances. They also participate in an annual musical production. Previous shows include "The Big Inning", "Alice in Wonderland, Jr", "Willy Wonka, Jr", "Star Quest", and "Soul on Fire". The most recent performances, "Living Water" and "Something to Sing About" were written and arranged by our talented music director, Ms. Lisa Blasi.

Middle School students perform in the Christmas Concert and are invited to participate in Ovation!, an Honors Choir that meets before and during the school day. They also have the option of participating in an annual musical production. Past musicals include Jr. productions of "Seussical", "Annie", "Peter Pan", "Bye Bye Birdie", "Sound of Music", "High School Musical", and "Music Man".

In addition to Band, Ovation, and Theater, Middle School students are provided with Electives options that include Worship Arts, Music Theory, Survey of Music Genres, Urban Music, and Songwriting.

Ms. Blasi is currently publishing her own music curriculum with Beatin’ Path Publications. Her first book is set to be released this year. Her talent, passion, and high expectations bring out the very best in our students, helping them to discover and develop God's gift of music!
