Iowa Test of Basic Skills

Starting in the 2006-2007 school year, all CGLS students took the Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS). From its beginning in 1935, the emphasis in the program has been on the use of ITBS results for instructional purposes. To that end, a vast number of school districts - both public and private - have voluntarily participated in this program annually since its inception. Over 70 years, the assessment has been known for its validity, reliability, and consistency. This allows CGLS parents and teachers to have a high level of confidence in its effectiveness in evaluating students' progress allowing the school to continually improve curriculum and teaching methods.

We are pleased with the report we received from the standardized testing that was completed by our students at the end of October, 2009. The overall composite average was 96.33 %. The composite score is an indicator of overall achievement because it is an average of scores from a variety of tests. The school composite percentile rank, based on national student norms, describes how the typical school performed overall. The score of 96.33 % means that Christ's Greenfield scored 96.33 % higher than other schools in the nation completing this test. Or, 2.67 % of the schools taking this test scored higher than our school. (99% is the highest score that can be achieved). Congratulations to our students, teachers, and parents for their efforts and commitment to excellence in education. Below is a summary of the composite scores since Christ's Greenfield started administering the test in 2007. The test scores are just one tool among others that are used to access our students’ academic level, curriculum review, and instructional methods.
