The core of Christ's Greenfield Lutheran School's curriculum is the development of Christian faith while developing well-rounded students who are challenged to continually grow, mature, and excel.
A broad curriculum is built on the excellent foundation established in the school's preschool which values the benefits of a strong core academic education, exposure to God's Word, the Bible, service to others, with physical activity, creative experiences, technology application and foreign language.
Graduates are described as "well-rounded" with strong academic development and self-disciplined study habits with personal interests that reach beyond class instruction.
To meet the aims and purposes of our school the chief subject is the study of God's Word. A well-integrated course of Bible study, Bible history, and Biblical memory work is provided for every pupil. All children participate in regular morning devotions and a weekly chapel service that brings the elementary grades together to pray, worship and sing.
To put faith in action, each class selects an area of service to others. These acts of service range from cleaning a yard to collecting diapers for families in need. In addition, school-wide service efforts include collecting offerings during chapel which do not support the school but help others in students' communities, their state, their country and their world.
In keeping with the belief statements of the Lutheran Church, the emphasis is on humble service done in the name of Jesus and not on gaining recognition or another personal benefit. "We love because God first loved us!" 1 John 4:19
Curriculum Development
Curriculum Committees including a panel of teachers, parents, and the principal consider local, state, and federal standards in the development of the curriculum for each grade. Curricula produced by secular and religious companies are considered. The latest texts, software, and other multi-media educational products and services made by various publishers are examined for possible classroom use.
CGLS is support by experts in the various academic fields through the Lutheran district and national offices. Teachers and administrators gain curricular insights and professional development through regional and national workshops and their person inquiry. The administration of the school, along with the faculty, conducts an annual review of all current and emerging educational materials and resources.
